model S504/S504i "unison" ― Smart 16 bit Non-Oversampling DAC

Newly designed DAC!

While inheriting the sound quality of the model S306 "pascal", also non-oversampling D/A converter and the power supply unit is built in a compact size, and finished as new D/A converters. The output stage amplifies the current from the DAC chip by push-pull current mirror, obtains the analog output directly, and it has a completely new constitution, and it is characterized by sound quality with highly pure musical power. There are 4 variations for each interface, COAXIAL (S/PDIF), USB (PC), OPTICAL (TOSLINK) and I2S. This product has 2 types for each signaling mode, conventional voltage-mode (S504) and a new approach current-mode (S504i). Once you listen to the sound quality of current-mode that has reached the area where you are awake, you will not forget.

How does the voltage-mode and the current-mode signaling works?

By adopting the principle superior current-mode signaling in exchanging music signals, it is progressing dramatically from the conventional audio system. By simplifying the conventional voltage-mode complex equipments, the purity of the music signal has been dramatically improved.

Features

Smart Size — Easy to wiring from rear panel.

In size-held (100×200mm) in one hand, you do not choose a place to put it. Since the depth is narrow, it does not get in the way routing of the wiring from the rear panel.

Japanese Taste — The texture of Japan.

The top plate in 5mm thick acrylic, lighting watermark handmade Japanese paper brings the texture of Japanese taste. Elegant and cool, finished with a timeless design. The color of the paper is by hope, you can choose from below color variations. You can also choose gray-smoke monotone or clea-transparent panel without Japanese paper.

Simple Front Panel — Easy to operate.

We think that the devices for listening to music should be as simple as possible. For that reason, we designed as soon as possible to immerse into the music by losing cumbersome switches as much as possible, just plugging in the cable and turning on the power.

D/A Converter — 16 bit non-oversampling is still a best choice for the CD-DA format.

The fact of audibility and the DAC output waveform as viewed in the oscilloscope, although some association there, nothing in addition, do not catch anything, no digital filter non-oversampling is still a good freshness. There is no rise in blurring or bleeding at all of the sound. By replacing standard IC power regulator to discrete circuit, more clean (about -20dB, 1/10) the power supply, also accurately reproduce fine sound.

Newly Designed Output Stage — Also available current-mode signaling type.

As for the current-mode signaling type, the output stage amplifies the current from the DAC chip TDA1543 by push-pull current mirror (in principle no nonlinear distortion occurs) and no coupling capacitor, obtains the analog output current directly, and it has a completely new constitution, and it is characterized by sound quality with highly pure musical power. Once you listen to the sound quality of current-mode that has reached the area where you are awake, you will not forget.

All Stainless Steel — Good quality music dwells in a sturdy structure.

Including the chassis, spacers, bolts and nuts, all have adopted the stainless steel. Among the metal, stainless steel rigid vibration transmission speed (about 5740m / sec.) is comparatively faster. Not accumulate the vibrational energy to the chassis, the mechanical ground of the vibration that quickly performed, was to further improve the expressive power of a fine sound. In addition, the electrical resistance (internal loss) of stainless steel is larger than that of the copper and aluminum (about 429 times that of copper), to absorb the electromagnetic noise from the internal circuit and external environment, there is also the advantage of easily consumed as heat. In this way, we are contributing significantly to the low noise of the material of the chassis.

Digital Interfaces

This product has 4 variations for each interface. While you purchase order this model S504/S504i, please specify interface from COAXIAL (S/PDIF), USB (PC), OPTICAL (TOSLINK) and I2S. Note that each version has only one "exclusive" interface and not switchable.

Voltage-mode and current-mode signaling

This product has 2 types for each signaling mode, conventional voltage-mode (S504) and a new approach current-mode (S504i). Also you can use current / voltage conversion adapter (model S206i) to convert current-mode signal into conventional voltage-mode.
